Mapping San Francisco: An Exhibition of the City’s Past
Yes SF Event
Mapping San Francisco
Thursday, July 31 | 5:00 to 7:00 PM
Yes SF Headquarters | 220 Montgomery Street (inside Red Bay Coffee)
Step into the layers of San Francisco’s history through the eyes of local antique map experts Tom Paper and Jim Schein. This exhibition features a stunning display of rare and historic maps that chart the city's growth, quirks, and transformations over the last 150 years.
You’ll explore the city of San Francisco from its earliest days, the Port Seawall constructed in the late 1800s, long-forgotten neighborhoods, early commercial arteries, sand dunes, fires and global expositions, all of which shaped the city we know today. Tom and Jim will share stories behind the maps, with physical replicas mounted on the walls and digitized versions displayed on-screen.
