Dogpatch Art & Business Association

Bruce civic work began in 2008, when he joined neighbors to complete a neighborhood-created, always-active Dogpatch Playground at Woods Yard. He has spent years pushing for more green, walkable public space in the neighborhood, most notably spearheading the creation of Progress Park on Indiana Street, an award-winning community park built on a formerly rundown Caltrain-owned lot. The project required years of persistence with city and state, became a widely cited example of resident-driven neighborhood improvement, was later recognized by the Neighborhood Empowerment Network (NEN), and became the motivation to create the first-ever Green Benefit District (GBD) in Dogpatch.

As a DABA board member, Bruce works to bring attention and attendees to local events hosted and promoted by DABA, helping to get feet out to enjoy Dogpatch events.
